降り注ぐ雨は川となり、ふもとへ水を運びます。
大きな湖のそばに生活があるその風土は、長い時間をかけて多くの産業を生み出してきました。

豊富な水源を必要とする繊維業もそのひとつ。
滋賀県の西側に位置する高島地域では、

200年も前から「ちぢみ」という伝統的な織物が受け継がれています。
 

その高島ちぢみから生まれた「Shibo」。
 

熟練の織物職人の手によって、湖面に揺れるさざなみのように、

軽くやわらかな生地ができました。
 

水のゆらぎ、静けさ、気持ちのいい肌触り。

Lake Biwa is located in the center of Shiga Prefecture, fully surrounded by mountains.

Raindrops falling onto the mountains become streams, running down to the foot and flowing into the lake.

In Shiga, the life has always been closed to the big lake, and various industries have developed over time.

The textile industry, which requires abundant water resources, is one of them.

In Takashima region on the western side of the lake,

a traditional textile chijimi (a Japanese cotton crepe) has been passed down for the past 200 years.

Shibo is made of the Takashima chijimi.

It is a light and soft fabric, made by skilled textile workers, waving like ripples on the surface of the lake.

Shibo --- a wavy, calm, and comfortable clothes.
